With a deep, purplish garnet colour, the nose is aromatic and intense, the palate is supple and persistent. This Beaujolais Nouveau expresses concentrated aromas of cassis and red fruits. Its fruity and freshness reveal themselves with particular richness and concentration.

From old vines, this cuvée with a dark red robe has powerful and fresh aromas of red fruits: redcurrant, raspberry. The rich and fleshy mouth reveals a good balance.

Super-pale. Is this C&J's Provence equivalent? The nose is bold and sweet and quite tropical. A bit like mango and strawberry purée. Effusive, voluptuous fruit (not remotely provençal, in that respect) with a strong streak of fennel seed and sweet liquorice root. It's slightly on the sweet side, but the herbaceous, spicy framework gives it lots of character and as a whole it comes together really well. The finish is firm. A good barbecue wine.

Apricot, hints of grass, ginger. Viscous, high acidity, dense style. Rich but still fresh with phenolic grip.

Neutral but fresh nose. Just a little hint of sweetness (or is that the Muscadelle?). A very easy if not especially distinguished drink.

) From an estate founded in 1975 and specialising in Monastrell (Mourvèdre), this is more meaty, earthy and herbal than jammy fruit-driven, which Monastrell can sometimes be. Subtle dark chocolate and spicy plum compote begins to emerge. in the mouth, there is black fruit and plum skins, that dry, savoury, lightly nutty and earthy tannin character adding to that effect. There's a lightness to this despite the 14% alcohol, with its quite breezy and dry character, though the finish is brought up a little short by a lemony tartness to the acidity.

Wine Enthusiast
This smooth, velvety wine is gentle in texture, rich in fruit and oak-spice flavors, and full in body. Dried plums, black cherries, a touch of wood char and dark chocolate all contribute to a generous expression of this Spanish grape variety.

Decanting is recommended. Smells, and tastes, like blueberry jam that's been left in the pot for slightly too long. Not burnt, but a touch of char, a touch of tarragon, scorched vanilla pod. Middle of the road, solid, uninspiring but reliable.

Classic Coonawarra Cab in many ways, from Terra Rossa soils and Hollick's the oldest blocks, the wine matured in French oak. Leafy and herbal edge flit around the aroma on first opening. Blackcurrant and something definitely meaty emerges. In the mouth the sheer sweetness surprises. Assuming this has negligible residual sugar, it must be the decadent ripeness of the black fruits captured in the glass. Tannins are firm, and along with 14.9% declared alcohol, do give a slight heat but plenty of grip. That sweet fruit drives the finish rather than oak, and the crispness of the tannins alleviates the meaty structure of the wine.
